Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Sugiono opened his voice about the news of athletes

Sugiono said the participation of Israeli athletes in the championship was a decision of the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (Persani).The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said, had no connection about this.

“I am a monitor but this is what holds Persani. We will see what its development is like,” Sugiono told reporters at the State Palace on Wednesday (8/10).
“That is what organizes Persani, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no permit request,” he continued.
Sugiono added that the decision to receive a visa or not Israeli athletes in Indonesia is the authority of immigration, not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far been reluctant to comment on the problem.
“That’s a hypothetic question. We don’t know whether it is approved or not,” Sugiono said.
Previously, a number of Israeli athletes were rumored to be participating in the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships which were planned to be held in Jakarta this October.
The Israeli federation claimed to have registered to participate in the championship.
According to Federation, his party has communicated with organizers in RI.They also hope that the delegates will be accepted and guaranteed safety during participation.
Deputy Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Sukamta rejected the plan of the participation of this Israeli athlete.Sukamta urged the government to be firmly related to Israeli athletes.
“The government must show the attitude of Indonesia’s free foreign policy, in favor of humanity and in accordance with the mandate of the constitution. Do not let us conceding again about the participation of Israel in the international sports event,” Sukamta said in a written statement.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has also stated that he did not allow the presence of Israeli athletes in Jakarta.
He then asked the organization to reconsider the intention to invite or accept Israeli athletes.More than that, Pramono urged that immigration reject the visa of the Zionist athletes.
“Because there is no benefit in this condition there is a gymnastic athlete competing in Jakarta. It will definitely ignite, igniting public anger in this condition,” Pramono said at the City Hall.
