Hamas
strongly condemned the latest controversial move by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to once again enter the mosque area

in Jerusalem, Palestine, Wednesday (8/10).
In a statement, Hamas said that Ben Gvir’s actions were a blatant provocation that took place when ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip had just begun again in Egypt.

“This direct provocation reflects the mentality of the fascist government (Israel) which deliberately violates the sanctity of Al Aqsa and hurts the feelings of Muslims throughout the world,” Hamas said in its statement.
Ben-Gvir, an extreme right and anti-Palestinian Israeli minister, again invited several of his entourages to enter the Al Aqsa Mosque complex on Wednesday morning local time.

, Ben Gvir prayed for “victory in the war, the destruction of Hamas, and the release of Hamas hostages.”
Under the status quo, only Muslims are allowed to worship at the Al Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem, the Palestinian West Bank area still occupied by Israel.
Meanwhile, the Al Aqsa Mosque complex is also a holy site for Jews who often refer to the area as the Wailing Wall (Temple Mount).
Under the status quo, the Al Aqsa Area is the responsibility of the Jordanian Waqf Council.This was determined to reduce conflict and avoid the Al Aqsa area being a hot spot for clashes between residents and religious communities.
Meanwhile, Israel only has the authority to maintain security in the region.
However, this status quo is often violated by Israel.The Zionist state security forces often prohibit Muslims, especially from Palestine, from worshiping at the Al Aqsa Mosque, including during the holy month of Ramadan.
In recent years, a number of ministers, including Ben Gvir, have often barged in with hundreds of Israeli Jews to worship there despite clear prohibitions.
Ben Gvir is often accompanied by Israeli troops to visit the Al Aqsa compound and violate the status quo.
