Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi said the direction was conveyed so that Indonesia could help provide care for the people of Gaza victims of Israel’s aggression.
“Yes, for this treatment assistance, this is a humanitarian activity,” Hasan said in Jakarta, Thursday (7/8).
Hasan conveyed the government’s decision to place two thousand Gazans on Galang Island because the island had adequate health facilities, and was separated from the residential area of local residents.
“There was also there, I used to have a refugee camp but also for the Covid Handling Center at that time.
Hasan ensured that thousands of Gazans were not relocated to RI, but to get medical assistance.
“So later after recovering, after completing treatment they will certainly return to Gaza,” he said.
In April, Prabowo said that Indonesia was ready to evacuate Gazans in several waves, to be given treatment assistance.
Prabowo said that the first wave of evacuation would bring around 1,000 Gazans.
Those who were evacuated included injured victims, orphans, and victims who experienced severe trauma of the tail of Israeli aggression.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said that the evacuation of Gazans was not intended to relocate them from their homeland.
